Ferozepur: In a significant operation, Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur Zone, in coordination with the Special State Operations Cell (SSOC), Fazilka, has dismantled a cross-border organised arms smuggling module near the Indo–Pak International Border.

The operation led to the recovery of 27 illegal pistols of .30 bore along with 470 live cartridges. Two individuals identified as Mangal Singh alias Mangali and Gurmeet Singh were arrested while attempting to deliver the weapons to members of criminal gangs in Punjab.

According to preliminary investigation, the consignment was sourced from Pakistan through a foreign-based entity and was meant to strengthen the arsenal of local crime syndicates. The accused were allegedly working under instructions from handlers based abroad.

Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to map the forward and backward linkages of the smuggling racket, identify all individuals involved, and dismantle the wider network operating across borders.

The Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to combating cross-border crime and organised smuggling networks to ensure the safety and security of the state.
