Ludhiana: Power, Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs Minister Sanjeev Arora inaugurated the first of four bridges on Sidhwan Canal, fulfilling a long-standing demand of Ludhiana’s South City residents. The project, costing Rs 16 crore, is being constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) approximately 300 meters from the F2 Raceway and Barewal Bridges.

Speaking at the event, Arora said the second bridge will be inaugurated within ten days, with the remaining two completed in the next two months. He emphasized that the completion of all four bridges would significantly ease traffic congestion in the area, where growing localities had strained existing infrastructure.

Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, and DCP Rupinder, along with local residents, were present at the inauguration. Residents expressed gratitude to Arora for addressing traffic challenges, noting that the project resolves issues that had persisted for over a decade.

Arora credited his continuous engagement with the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI officials, and multiple meetings with key authorities for ensuring timely and quality construction. He reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to delivering world-class infrastructure across the state.

Prominent attendees included PD NHAI Priyanka Meena, Councillor Kapil Kumar Sonu, AAP leaders Bittu Bhullar, Satwinder Singh Jawaddi, and Navdeep Navi.
