Patiala: The Punjab government has taken strict action against the ongoing strike called in protest of the cancellation of tenders for kilometre-scheme buses. All employees participating in the strike have been suspended. The Transport Department issued an email to all contractual staff informing them of the action.

The email states that employees caused financial loss to the government by participating in an “illegal protest” and by not operating buses on designated routes. The department has also imposed penalties for not running buses. According to the order, all concerned employees have been suspended from service with immediate effect.

The government’s move is seen as a firm step to end the strike and restore normal bus services across the state.
