Chandigarh: On the second and final day of the special session of the Punjab Assembly, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann updated the House on post-flood relief measures and ongoing rehabilitation work. Speaking in the assembly, the CM said the phase of flood prevention has been completed, and the government will now focus on restoring affected areas.

Chief Minister Mann announced that compensation checks for crop, livestock, and other losses will begin distribution by October 15, ahead of Diwali on October 20. He stated that a special survey will be conducted to assess the damage. Farmers will receive ₹7,200 per acre for sand extraction, while lands that have been washed away will receive ₹18,800 per acre. For the bean-growing regions of Firozpur and Fazilka, ₹4.5 crore has already been released from the relief fund.

CM Mann also expressed gratitude to the youth who worked tirelessly in flood-affected areas, as well as the NDRF teams and the Indian Army, who provided 20 helicopters and boats to aid relief operations. He acknowledged the efforts of political party workers who set aside politics to contribute selflessly, along with numerous NGOs and volunteers from Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh who came forward to help.
