Chandigarh: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has announced the schedule for the Campus Students’ Council Elections for the 2026-27 academic session, setting August 31 as the polling day.
The election programme, issued by the Office of the Dean, Student Welfare (DSW), covers the election of Office Bearers, Departmental Representatives (DRs) and the Executive Committee. The process will begin with the filing of nominations on August 24 and conclude with the Executive Committee election on September 11.
PU Student Elections: Nominations To Begin On August 24
According to the schedule, candidates will be able to file their nominations between 9:30 am and 10:30 am on August 24. Scrutiny of nomination papers will begin at 10:35 am.
The initial candidate lists will be displayed on department notice boards at noon. Candidates will then have between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to submit objections.
Departments will forward the provisional candidate lists and objections to the DSW Office by 2:30 pm.
On August 25, the approved list of candidates will be displayed at 10 am. Candidates wishing to withdraw from the contest can do so between 10:30 am and noon.
The final list will be submitted to the DSW Office at 12:30 pm and displayed at 2:30 pm the same day.
Panjab University Elections Voting On August 31
The main election will take place on August 31, with polling beginning at 9:30 am.
Ballot boxes for the election of Office Bearers will begin to be collected from Returning Officers from 11 am and transferred to the Gymnasium Hall, where counting will take place.
Results for Departmental Representatives will be announced in their respective departments from noon onwards. Counting for Office Bearers will also begin at noon at the Gymnasium Hall, followed by the declaration of results.

Executive Committee Election On September 11
The final stage of the Campus Students’ Council election process will take place on September 11 at the Auditorium of the Department of Zoology.
Only elected Departmental Representatives and Office Bearers will participate in the Executive Committee election.
