Moga (Punjab): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will take part in the Aam Aadmi Party’s anti-drug rally in Moga after being discharged from a hospital in Mohali. The Chief Minister is expected to travel to the venue by helicopter.

In a post on X, Mann wrote that the party is organising a massive rally near village Killi Chahal in Moga and invited supporters to join. Though he did not explicitly confirm his presence in the post, party sources said he would attend the event. Mann had reportedly taken ill in Sangrur a day earlier and was airlifted to Mohali for medical attention.

The rally will also be addressed by former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Meanwhile, five police personnel deployed for duty at the event were injured in a road accident. The incident occurred when a bus hit them at a checkpoint, and they are currently undergoing treatment.

AAP stated that the first phase of its “War Against Drugs” campaign received an encouraging response, and the Moga rally is aimed at strengthening the second phase of the initiative. Party-appointed ward-level and district-level volunteers, as well as monitoring committee members, have been invited to the rally and will be briefed on the next course of action and their responsibilities in curbing drug abuse.

The ruling party is expected to highlight the anti-drug campaign as a key issue in the 2027 Assembly elections. The rally also comes ahead of a scheduled BJP event in Moga, which is expected to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, increasing the political significance of the gathering. Party legislators and constituency in-charges have been tasked with ensuring a strong turnout.

In view of the large gathering, the Ludhiana Rural Police has issued a traffic advisory. SSP Ankur Gupta said special route plans have been put in place to manage heavy vehicular movement and to prevent congestion during the rally.

Earlier, a road accident involving police personnel occurred ahead of the rally. According to officials, a private bus hit the officers while they were stationed at a checkpoint, and several vehicles trailing behind also collided. The injured personnel have been admitted to a private hospital in Moga for treatment.
