Ludhiana— A massive fire broke out in a house in Ludhiana’s Ichha Nagar area late Wednesday night, triggering panic among residents. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., when smoke and flames were suddenly seen rising from the house. The fire department was immediately informed, and after nearly 30 minutes of effort, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
According to local residents, the fire was so intense that two scooters, a car, an auto-rickshaw, and 29 LED televisions kept inside were completely destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though property worth several lakhs was reduced to ashes.
Resident Harvinder Singh said the fire broke out at his neighbor’s house, who works as a delivery van driver. Initial investigations revealed that a malfunction in the air conditioner’s compressor likely caused the fire, which quickly spread throughout the house.
Villagers first tried to douse the flames using water from storage tanks but failed as the blaze intensified. Fireman Vijay Kumar said they received a call at 11:38 p.m. and rushed to the spot with one fire truck, successfully controlling the fire within 30 minutes.
He confirmed that while no lives were lost, household goods and vehicles were completely destroyed. Locals added that had the fire brigade arrived a few minutes later, the flames could have spread to nearby houses as well.
