Chandigarh: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Sunday announced the development of a grand Heritage Street in Sri Anandpur Sahib to mark the First Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Bains, who represents the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, said the project will connect the main Gurudwara Sahib with Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, the revered site where Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth. He extended warm greetings to the Sikh Sangat worldwide on the auspicious occasion and described the initiative as a tribute to the town’s unmatched spiritual legacy.

The minister explained that the Heritage Street will be designed as a pedestrian-only zone, free from vehicular movement. The sacred route will be adorned with marble work, artistic landscaping, and spiritual lighting to create a serene atmosphere. The stairs leading to Takht Sahib will also be reconstructed with marble and intricate designs, enhancing the grandeur of the holy site.

Under the first phase, ₹25 crore has been allocated for the project. Bains confirmed that the tendering process has been completed and the project will be launched soon, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann scheduled to inaugurate it.

He added that the development would not only enrich the spiritual journey of devotees but also boost local tourism and improve pilgrim facilities in the holy city.
