Gurdaspur — With the festive season underway, the Health Department and Food Supply authorities have intensified inspection drives across the district. Recently, in Ludhiana, the Health Department seized a large quantity of paneer and other food items from a bus. Continuing the crackdown, the District Food Control Department on Friday conducted raids on government ration depots in Tibbar village.
During inspections, District Food Controller Sukhjinder Singh and his team found serious irregularities at two depots. According to officials, the depot holders failed to distribute the wheat sent by the government to the eligible beneficiaries and had stored it at a location other than the official government warehouse.
Sukhjinder Singh stated that show-cause notices will be issued to the defaulters, and departmental action will follow. He further directed all depot holders to ensure that once a receipt is generated from the machine, the full quantity of wheat must be weighed and handed over to beneficiaries on the spot.
The operation is part of a special campaign aimed at ensuring food security and transparency in the district’s ration distribution system.
