Ferozepur: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Ferozepur Police arrested a man and seized 1.061 kg of heroin along with ₹1.9 lakh in drug money, 26 SIM cards from various operators, a mobile phone, and a bag, officials said.
According to SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs in the Mamdot area. The accused, Gurpreet Singh, 42, son of Amarjit Singh from village Khushalpur, was apprehended at the T-Point on Khai Pheme Ki link road.
“The Punjab Government and Police are committed to a drug-free state. Continuous efforts are underway to dismantle supply chains, track masterminds, and take strict action against traffickers,” said the SSP.
The seizure of 26 SIM cards suggests that the accused may have extensive links in arranging drug consignments. Police are examining the SIM data to trace both backward and forward connections, potentially revealing the wider network of suppliers and buyers involved in the illegal trade.
Gurpreet Singh has been booked under the NDPS Act, and investigations continue to identify his associates and the larger nexus behind the consignment.
