FEROZEPUR — Taking a strong stand against internal indiscipline, the Bharatiya Janata Party Ferozepur district unit on Monday expelled four prominent local leaders from the primary membership of the party for a period of six years. The stringent disciplinary action was finalized during a joint high-level meeting comprising the BJP district core committee, the district executive team, and the party’s disciplinary committee.
BJP Ferozepur District President Surjit Singh Baath announced the expulsions, emphasizing that organizational principles and party discipline would be maintained at all costs. The crackdown was initiated after the party high command noted serious violations during the recent Municipal Council and Municipal Committee elections. Baath stated that contesting against official party nominees or actively backing rebel candidates would not be tolerated under any circumstances, as it directly undermines the party’s electoral prospects.
According to the official directive, the four leaders were found guilty of either entering the civic polls as independent candidates or openly campaigning for family members who rebelled against the party’s official line. The expelled leaders include Rajesh Kumar Nindi from Ward Number 23, whose wife Jeevan Bala entered the electoral fray as an independent, and Ashwani Grover from Ward Number 28, who directly contested the election independently. Additionally, Manish Dhawan from Ward Number 27 was expelled after his wife Channpreet Dhawan filed her nomination as an independent, while Rohit Dhawan from Ward Number 25 faced action because his wife Ritu Dhawan contested the election on a rival Shiromani Akali Dal ticket.
Reiterating the party’s core values, Baath maintained that the BJP functions as a highly disciplined, ideological, and cadre-based organization where every worker and office-bearer is bound to adhere to collective directives. When questioned about widening the scope of action against other members involved in subtle anti-party activities, the district president clarified that any individual found misusing party banners, utilizing official publicity material for independent campaigns, or working against official candidates would face similar strict consequences under the established rules. He concluded that preserving organizational unity and strength remains the utmost priority for the leadership moving forward.
