Mumbai: A family of four, including an Indian Navy sailor, his spouse, and their two infant children, was found dead inside their residential quarters in south Mumbai’s high-security Navy Nagar area on Saturday night. The incident has triggered a comprehensive investigation by local law enforcement and military authorities into a suspected murder-suicide.
The deceased have been identified as a 30-year-old serving naval sailor, his 28-year-old wife, their three-year-old son, and a two-month-old infant. Police and naval security personnel were alerted after family members failed to establish contact, leading to the discovery of the bodies inside the official government residence.
Initial findings by local police indicate that the sailor allegedly died by hanging after poisoning his wife and two young children, whose bodies were recovered from a bed inside the home. All four bodies were subsequently transported to a government hospital for post-mortem examinations to confirm the precise causes and timeline of death.
An Accidental Death Report has been registered as investigators record statements from neighbours, relatives, and colleagues to determine whether domestic disputes, financial strain, or personal pressures precipitated the tragedy. Officials confirmed that naval authorities are extending full cooperation and assistance to civil law enforcement throughout the ongoing probe.
