Batala: In a significant security operation, Punjab Police on Sunday claimed to have dismantled a terror module in Batala with the seizure of explosives and sophisticated equipment.
According to officials, a police team recovered four hand grenades (SPL HGR-84), a 2 kg RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED), and communication devices from the village of Balpura in Batala.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the consignment was delivered on the instructions of UK-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Nishan Singh alias Nishan Jodia, who was allegedly working at the behest of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, backed by the countryโs intelligence agency ISI.
Police confirmed that one suspect has been arrested, while another accomplice remains on the run. Search operations are underway to track him down.
Senior officials said the case highlights a larger cross-border conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace in Punjab. โOur teams are pursuing every lead to expose the entire network and prevent any attempt to destabilize the state,โ a police spokesperson said.
The Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, stressing that such recoveries underscore their determination to foil terror designs and ensure peace and communal harmony across the state.
