Fazilka: Relief and rescue efforts in the flood-affected regions of Fazilka are ongoing in full force, with the Indian Army’s Amogh Division working in tandem with the district administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to support residents impacted by the rising waters.

The operations, which began on August 28, have now entered their third consecutive day. With several villages submerged due to heavy rainfall and overflowing water bodies, Army personnel have been instrumental in evacuating more than 700 people from vulnerable areas to safer locations.

According to district officials, troops have been operating round-the-clock to assist stranded families, deliver essential supplies, and extend immediate support to those in distress. Relief material, including food, water, and medical aid, has been distributed to affected households, especially in remote villages that were temporarily cut off.

Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu said efforts are now focused on reaching isolated families and ensuring that essential services are restored. “The Army is playing a critical role in helping us stabilize the situation. Our priority remains the safety and well-being of residents,” she said.

Personnel from the Amogh Division have been deployed across key flood-hit zones, coordinating with civil authorities to ensure a smooth and timely response. Rescue boats and other equipment are being used to navigate waterlogged areas, and mobile medical units have also been activated to address urgent health concerns.

The administration has urged residents in at-risk zones to remain alert and cooperate with ongoing evacuation and relief efforts. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely, and additional resources are on standby should the need arise.
