FEROZEPUR: In a significant success for the Punjab Government’s anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashiyan Viruddh’ (War Against Drugs), the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Ferozepur Range seized 4 kg 100 grams of heroin and arrested two individuals, including a 17-year-old juvenile with a previous criminal record.
The operation, led by ASI Parminder Singh under the supervision of AIG Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu and DSP Prithipal Singh, targeted a drug module operating in the Fazilka–Jalalabad belt. The arrested individuals have been identified as Bovin Kumar alias Bobby (19), a resident of Ladhuwala Hithar in Fazilka, and a juvenile from Hazara Ram Singh Wala who was previously booked in a 2024 NDPS case and a 2025 attempt-to-murder case. Two other suspects, Jashandeep Singh alias Jashan and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh, both from Ladhuwala Hithar, have been named and are currently wanted. A case has been registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act.
AIG Gurinderbir Singh Sandhu confirmed that the seized heroin was recovered from a house used by the accused for storage, though two suspects managed to escape during the raid. The ANTF suspects the arrested individuals and their absconding accomplices are linked to a developing drug network connected with handlers operating from across the border.
The operation comes just three days after the same range made a massive seizure of 50 kg 14 grams of heroin following a dramatic vehicle chase and brief exchange of fire with a habitual offender. AIG Sandhu noted that the current module employed a different pattern of supply and communication, relying on mobile phones and social media, and technical evidence has been secured. He attributed this shift in smuggling methods to stricter policing, anti-drone systems along the border, and increased public awareness. Further arrests are anticipated as the investigation widens to trace the full trafficking network.
