Amritsar: In a major intelligence-led operation, the Counter Intelligence unit of Amritsar police has dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module linked to Pakistan. Five operatives were apprehended, and authorities recovered six sophisticated pistols, including Glock and Px5 models, along with 1 kilogram of heroin and ₹6 lakh in drug proceeds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were operating under the direction of Pakistan-based handlers, supplying arms to criminals and gangsters in Punjab to fuel unlawful activities.
An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar. Police said further investigations are ongoing to identify and dismantle the network’s full structure, including its upstream and downstream connections.
Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on narco-terror and organized crime to ensure the safety and security of the state.
