Amritsar: The family of 28-year-old Harmandeep Singh from Mahawa village in Amritsar is desperately seeking answers, as their son has been missing in Italy for the past 72 days. Despite repeated efforts, there has been no trace of him since late July.
According to his father, Kabal Singh, Harmandeep had moved to Italy on January 15, 2019, in search of better job opportunities. He was employed at a dairy farm located in the Latina district near Rome. His last known appearance was on July 22, 2025, when he was reportedly seen at work. Since then, all contact with him has been lost.
The family claims that Harmandeep was working alongside a man named Baljinder Singh, a resident of Jalandhar who served as a supervisor at the same dairy. Kabal Singh has raised serious concerns about his son’s safety, alleging that Baljinder had assaulted Harmandeep in earlier incidents in 2021 and 2023.
Kabal further stated that on the day his son went missing, he was seen in the company of Baljinder Singh and the owner of the dairy farm. Since then, he alleges that the company has not provided any clear information about his son’s whereabouts or any explanation of what might have happened.
Distressed by the lack of progress in the case, the family has now appealed to both the Indian government and the Indian Embassy in Italy to intervene. They are urging authorities to press the Italian police and local administration to speed up the investigation and help locate Harmandeep.
“Our family is living in constant fear and uncertainty. We just want to know where our son is and whether he is safe,” said Kabal Singh, appealing for support from the Ministry of External Affairs.
As the days pass with no developments, the family continues to hope for a breakthrough that might bring Harmandeep home — or at the very least, provide them with the answers they desperately seek.
