Amritsar: Main Shooter Killed in Police Encounter in Sarpanch Jarmal Singh Murder Case

Amritsar: A police encounter took place in Amritsar on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Aam Aadmi Party sarpanch Jarmal Singh, during which the main shooter was killed, officials said.

According to police sources, the accused shooter, identified as Sukhraj Gunga, sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire and later succumbed to his wounds. In the same incident, police personnel was seriously injured and has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

Jarmal Singh was shot dead a few days ago during a wedding function in Amritsar, triggering shock and outrage in the area. Following the incident, police launched an intensive investigation and carried out multiple raids to trace those involved in the crime.

So far, a total of seven accused have been arrested in the case, including two main shooters. Police said the encounter occurred while teams were acting on specific intelligence related to the movement of the accused.

Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend any remaining associates linked to the murder, police added.
