Hoshiarpur (Punjab): Three people were killed and two others injured early Saturday when an ambulance plunged into a ditch near the Manguwal barrier on Chintpurni Road in Hoshiarpur district.
Police officer Jasvir Singh said the accident occurred around 3:30–4:00 am as the vehicle was traveling from Himachal Pradesh. “Three people died in the incident and two are injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital,” he told reporters.
Emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after the mishap and shifted the injured to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The tragedy comes as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across northern India. Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are witnessing severe damage due to flooding and landslides. In Punjab alone, the flood-related death toll climbed to 43 on Friday, prompting intensified rescue and relief operations. AIIMS Delhi has deployed a specialised medical team to support the affected regions.
