Khadoor Sahib: Punjab’s political climate has heated up ahead of the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections, even as the Shiromani Akali Dal registered a notable victory in the Khadoor Sahib constituency. In the Bhabhian Block Samiti zone, the party’s SC candidate Jasbir Kaur emerged victorious without facing any opposition. The win, achieved under the guidance of senior Akali leader Gursewak Singh Sheikh, has given the party a significant boost before the polls.

Polling will be held on December 14, and votes will be counted on December 17. Officials have decided to conduct the elections using ballot paper boxes instead of EVMs, and half of the total seats have been reserved for women this time.

Election authorities have confirmed 1,725 valid nominations for Zila Parishad seats, while 140 were rejected from the total 1,865 submissions.

For the Panchayat Samiti elections, 11,089 nominations were accepted, and 1,265 were rejected out of the 12,354 applications received.
