Nanded Sahib: In a firm response to the recent incident in Maharashtra, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has strongly condemned the attack on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal inside the complex of Gurdwara Mata Sahib Devan Ji in Nanded. Emphasizing the sanctity of religious shrines, the Jathedar highlighted that Sikh devotees travel from around the world to pay homage and pray for universal well-being, making such an assault within a sacred space deeply unfortunate.
Addressing the occurrence, Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj noted that Badal had visited Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib alongside his family in the spirit of devotion. While the management and Singh Sahibs of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib had accorded him due reverence earlier in the morning, the subsequent assault by an unidentified assailant within the gurdwara premises was denounced as highly unacceptable. He cautioned that such violent actions undermine the dignity of Sikh places of worship and harm the broader image of the Sikh community.
Underlining Sikh principles, the Jathedar stated that a true follower of the Guru would never target an individual visiting a gurdwara to pay respects, asserting that anyone who engages in such acts cannot be considered a true Sikh. Following the incident, local authorities in Nanded have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the motives and bring the perpetrators to justice.
