Batala (Punjab)— The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Batala Police, arrested an active member of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and recovered two sophisticated pistols from his possession, officials said on Wednesday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav identified the accused as Gurlove Singh alias Love Randhawa, a resident of Ujagar Nagar, Batala. The recovered weapons include a Zegana pistol with a magazine and three live cartridges, and a .30 bore pistol with two magazines and 13 live cartridges.
According to DGP Yadav, preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was acting on the instructions of his foreign-based handler, Amrit Dalam. “Further investigation is underway to trace both forward and backward linkages,” he said.
ADGP (AGTF) Promod Ban stated that, acting on reliable intelligence, a team led by DSP AGTF Rajan Parminder, in coordination with Batala Police, arrested the accused from T-Point on 60-Feet Qadian Road in Batala.
SSP Batala Suhail Qasim Mir said that the accused has a criminal record and is involved in several cases under the Arms Act, including theft, housebreaking, and acts endangering human life. Police said further interrogation is ongoing.
A case under Section 25 of the Arms Act (FIR No. 342 dated 11.11.2025) has been registered at Police Station Civil Lines, Batala in connection with the recovery.
