Abohar: The Punjab Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested two men allegedly wanted in connection with the murder of Abohar-based cloth trader Sanjay Verma. The arrested suspects have been identified as Billa and Jaskaran, both from Fazilka district. According to police, a reward of Rs 5 lakh each had been announced for information leading to their arrest.
Accused Traced To Rajasthan
The AGTF acted on information about the presence of the two suspects in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. A team subsequently located and arrested them, according to officials. Police said the duo was allegedly involved in the killing of Sanjay Verma in Abohar on July 7, 2025. They had remained untraced since the incident and were being sought by multiple police teams.
Police Probe Alleged Gang Connection
Investigators have found preliminary links between the accused and the Arzu Bishnoi gang, police said. The arrested men are now being questioned to establish their alleged role in the shooting and identify the circumstances that led to the murder. Investigators are also expected to examine how the suspects allegedly evaded arrest for more than a year and whether anyone helped them with accommodation, money or other forms of support while they were absconding.
AGTF Continues Gangster Crackdown
The arrests come as the Punjab Police continues its operations against organised criminal and gangster networks operating in the state and beyond. Police said further information about the murder and the alleged network involved is likely to emerge as the investigation and interrogation of the accused progresses.
