Chandigarh: Parts of Punjab are likely to see rainfall today as a fresh Western Disturbance moves into the region, bringing with it a shift in weather conditions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), three districts — Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Gurdaspur — are expected to receive light to moderate showers.

This weather change comes amid unusually warm nights across the state, with minimum temperatures recorded up to 4.6°C above normal, leaving many residents experiencing discomfort, especially during the evenings.

While daytime temperatures have remained relatively stable, the highest temperature was recorded in Mansa at 36.6°C, the warmest in Punjab over the last 24 hours. The IMD notes a slight overall rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures, with an average increase of 0.6°C compared to the previous day.

Meteorologists expect this new system to bring cloudy skies and scattered rainfall across parts of northern Punjab from October 5 to October 7, potentially bringing a dip in the elevated temperatures and offering some relief from the lingering heat.

The state government has advised residents in the affected districts to stay updated with local weather reports and take precautions during the anticipated rainfall period.
