Panchkula: Police on Wednesday arrested two more men linked to a criminal case registered at the Pinjore police station following an encounter in the industrial belt near Alipur. The latest operation comes less than a day after two other accused in the same case were taken into custody, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepesh from Charkhi Dadri and Yogesh from Bhiwani. Officials said both were wanted in connection with FIR No. 163/26 and had been under surveillance based on intelligence inputs gathered during the probe.
According to police, a special team received information regarding the movement of the suspects in the HSIIDC industrial area. Acting on the tip-off, officers moved in to intercept them. However, the suspects allegedly attempted to escape and opened fire at the police party.
A brief exchange of fire followed, after which the two men were subdued and arrested. No police personnel were reported injured during the operation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Amrinder Singh, who supervised the action, said the operation was launched after investigators developed specific leads about the whereabouts of the accused. He described the arrests as an important step in unraveling the case and identifying the wider network involved.
During the search, police recovered a .32-bore Beretta pistol along with two live cartridges. Investigators are now examining the weapon and attempting to determine how it came into the possession of the accused.
The arrests take the total number of suspects apprehended in the case to four within a span of 24 hours. On Tuesday, police had arrested two other accused, identified as Ashish and Viren, in connection with the same FIR.
Officials said interrogation of all four accused is underway and further arrests have not been ruled out. Investigators are also working to establish the precise role played by each suspect and whether they have links to other criminal activities.
The case remains under active investigation, with police teams pursuing additional leads and gathering evidence to strengthen the prosecution.
