New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a packed three-state tour on Friday, covering Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab, where he is scheduled to unveil infrastructure and public welfare projects valued at nearly Rs 23,000 crore. The visit will feature the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered passenger train, new highway corridors, healthcare institutions and redeveloped railway stations.

The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Jind, where he will inaugurate the country’s maiden hydrogen-powered train service connecting Jind and Sonipat. Developed using indigenous technology, the train is expected to become a major milestone in India’s efforts to introduce cleaner and more sustainable transportation within the railway network.

Following the flagging-off ceremony at Jind Railway Station, Modi will attend a public programme where projects worth around Rs 14,700 crore will either be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid. These include multiple highway projects, healthcare institutions and other public infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and public services across Haryana.

Among the major projects are stretches of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the Ambala-Kala Amb National Highway and the Jind-Gohana highway, all designed to strengthen transport links and reduce travel time. The Prime Minister will also virtually launch projects such as the Kurukshetra Sikh Museum, the Hansi-Barwala highway upgrade, and the Kurukshetra elevated railway track.

The programme will also include the symbolic handover of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) to selected beneficiaries, alongside the dedication of new government medical colleges and hospitals in Bhiwani and Narnaul, aimed at expanding healthcare and medical education in the state.

After concluding his Haryana engagements, the Prime Minister will travel to Chandigarh, where projects valued at over ₹4,700 crore will be inaugurated and launched. The focus here will be on strengthening healthcare facilities at PGIMER, expanding educational infrastructure at Punjab Engineering College and improving regional road connectivity.

Authorities have deployed an extensive security apparatus across Chandigarh and the adjoining Tricity region, with thousands of personnel from the Chandigarh Police, Central Armed Police Forces and neighbouring Punjab districts overseeing the Prime Minister’s visit.

In the final phase of the tour, Modi will reach Jalandhar, where railway and road projects worth more than ₹5,400 crore are scheduled for inauguration and foundation laying. One of the highlights will be the flagging off of the Amritsar-Varanasi Express from the newly redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station, which has been modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The Prime Minister is also expected to address a public gathering at Jalandhar before concluding the day-long visit. Security arrangements in Punjab have been significantly strengthened, with multi-layer deployment and intensive surveillance along the Prime Minister’s route.

The visit is expected to reinforce the Centre’s emphasis on clean energy, modern transport infrastructure, improved healthcare and enhanced regional connectivity across northern India.
