New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conveyed warm wishes to citizens across the country on the occasion of Holi, expressing hope that the festival would usher in happiness, prosperity and success in every household.
In his message, the Prime Minister described Holi as a celebration that infuses fresh enthusiasm into society. He remarked that the festival’s vibrant hues symbolize positivity and unity, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and renewed energy. According to him, the true essence of Holi lies in its ability to bring people together, transcending differences and strengthening bonds of harmony.
Emphasising the cultural richness associated with the festival, the Prime Minister noted that the colours seen across streets and homes reflect collective happiness and shared celebration. He said the spirit of Holi inspires people to embrace optimism and move forward with confidence.
Along with his greetings, the Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam:
उद्भिन्नस्तबकावतंससुभगाः प्रे खन्मरुन्नर्तिताः
पुष्पोद्गीर्णपरागपांशुललसत्पत्रप्रकाण्ड त्विषः।
गम्भीरक्रमपञ्चमोन्मदपिकध्वानोच्छलद्गीतयः
प्रत्युज्जीवितमन्मथोत्सव इव क्रीडन्त्यमू भूरुहः॥
The verse beautifully portrays nature in springtime — blossoms swaying in the gentle breeze, petals radiant with colour and fragrance, and melodies resonating in the air — likening the scene to a grand festival of love and life. The imagery reflects the deeper meaning of Holi as a celebration of renewal, vitality and togetherness.
Holi, often referred to as the festival of colours, marks the arrival of spring and is celebrated with enthusiasm across India, symbolising the triumph of positivity and the spirit of communal harmony.
