Noida: A man from Noida was arrested on Friday after he allegedly sent a hoax terror threat to Mumbai Police, claiming that 14 terrorists had infiltrated the city with 400 kg of RDX. The message, which caused significant panic, was quickly traced to the accused’s location in Noida.

The suspect, Ashwani Kumar, hailing from Bihar, was apprehended in Sector 79, Noida, under the jurisdiction of the Sector 113 Police Station. The arrest followed a rapid investigation by local law enforcement, who tracked the origin of the threatening message.

Mumbai Police received the alarming notification on Thursday, prompting immediate security alerts and response protocols in the city. According to law enforcement officials, the warning suggested an imminent terror attack, which sent shockwaves throughout the city. However, after further investigation, it was determined to be a false alarm.

Noida Police traced the hoax message to the residence of Ashwani Kumar, leading to his swift arrest. The authorities are now questioning Kumar to understand his motives behind sending such a disturbing message.

While the threat turned out to be a hoax, it triggered a series of security operations in Mumbai, resulting in unnecessary deployment of resources and manpower. Officials have expressed concern over the rise in such false threats, noting the disruption they cause to public safety and law enforcement efforts.

The arrest highlights the ongoing issue of hoax terror threats in India, which have become a significant concern for police forces. These incidents, often aimed at creating chaos, can stretch the resources of security agencies and undermine public confidence in safety measures.

Ashwani Kumar is currently in police custody, where he is being questioned about his intentions. Authorities are investigating whether this was an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern of false reports.

As investigations continue, the case serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying information and responding judiciously to terror-related threats. Security agencies have vowed to remain vigilant in preventing such incidents from escalating, emphasizing the need for public awareness about the consequences of spreading false information.
