New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a Nigerian national accused of duping more than 100 women across India by posing as a UK-based Korean businessman on a language exchange app. The accused, identified as 29-year-old Stephane alias K Cee Dominic, was arrested from his rented accommodation in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar.

According to officials, Dominic used a language practice app that connects people globally to improve their speaking skills. He targeted single women, introduced himself as “Duck Young,” a Korean jewellery businessman based in the UK, and gradually won their trust. Once convinced, victims were told that he was stranded at immigration with pending cheques or documents. His associates would then impersonate officials over phone calls, demanding money for clearance.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said Dominic lured victims with false promises of personal relationships and business ventures. The case came to light when a woman named Anjali filed a complaint on September 24, alleging that she had been cheated of ₹48,500. She recounted how Dominic claimed he was detained at Mumbai airport and how she later received calls from fake immigration officials pressuring her for more money. When she refused to pay an additional ₹2 lakh, Dominic cut off contact.

The cyber police station in Shahdara launched an investigation, tracking Dominic through call records, bank details, and social media activity. His mobile phone, recovered during the arrest, contained fake profiles and chat histories with more than 100 women.

During interrogation, Dominic confessed he had arrived in India in 2019 on a six-month tourist visa obtained using an Ivory Coast passport, as Nigerians faced visa restrictions. After overstaying illegally and running out of funds, he turned to cyber fraud.

Police said further investigations are underway to identify his accomplices and trace money trails connected to the fraud.
