Nashik: A 26-year-old woman, Nida Khan, has come under intense scrutiny in a high-profile case linked to a business process outsourcing unit associated with Tata Consultancy Services, as investigators expand their probe into allegations of workplace misconduct and coercion.
Police have named Khan among eight accused and described her as a key figure in the case, alleging she played a central role in how internal complaints were handled. Officials claim she was connected to the Internal Complaints Committee and may have influenced the course of grievance redressal, including discouraging formal reporting of serious allegations.
The controversy surfaced after a 23-year-old employee lodged a complaint accusing a colleague of sexual harassment, claiming he misled her with a promise of marriage despite being already married. The complainant also alleged that she faced pressure from certain co-workers to alter her religious beliefs, along with offensive remarks directed at a Hindu deity.
Investigators say multiple victims have since approached authorities, with at least nine complaints now under examination across different police jurisdictions. Alongside Khan, individuals such as Danish Shaikh and Tausif Attar have also been named.
Authorities report recovering dozens of call logs, emails, and chat exchanges between those accused, along with indications of possible financial links. These materials are being analysed to determine whether there was coordination or any attempt to suppress complaints. CCTV footage and witness statements are also forming part of the evidence review, now being overseen by a Special Investigation Team.
While police earlier indicated that Khan was absconding, her family has contested this claim, maintaining that she has remained at home. They have denied all allegations, stating she worked in a limited telecalling role and had no authority within HR processes. The family has also said she is pregnant and intends to seek legal relief.
Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services has initiated an internal inquiry, calling the allegations serious and reaffirming its policy against workplace misconduct. The company has said it is extending full cooperation to investigating agencies.
With conflicting accounts emerging from investigators and the accused’s family, the case continues to evolve, raising broader questions about workplace safeguards, accountability, and the handling of sensitive complaints.
