Mohali: Residents of Mohali district have been urged to take full advantage of the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme as the final deadline of August 31 approaches. To facilitate taxpayers, all municipal council offices in the district will remain open this Saturday and Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal shared that the scheme offers citizens a golden chance to clear pending property tax dues without facing any penalty or interest. She warned that from September 1 onwards, recovery would be enforced with additional charges.
Since the launch of the scheme on July 1, municipal councils in Mohali district have collected โน25.46 crore. Zirakpur led with the highest collection of โน15.74 crore, followed by Kharar at โน4.40 crore and Dera Bassi at โน2.47 crore. Other collections included Lalru (โน1.07 crore), Kurali (โน70 lakh), Nayagaon (โน60.78 lakh), and Banur (โน46.22 lakh).
Mittal said the encouraging public response highlights citizensโ role in strengthening urban local bodies. She added that increased revenue will help municipal councils improve civic amenities and accelerate urban development projects across the district.
