Faridkot: In a continued crackdown against narcotics trafficking, Faridkot police arrested three alleged drug peddlers in two separate operations and recovered 129 grams of heroin along with Rs 10,000 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The action was carried out as part of a district-wide anti-drug campaign being conducted under the supervision of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain. Police officials said cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered, and investigations are underway to trace the wider network linked to the accused.
In the first operation, a team from the CIA Staff Faridkot, led by ASI Hakam Singh, was conducting routine patrolling and checking on Talwandi Bypass Road when they intercepted a suspicious individual. During the search, police recovered 99 grams of heroin from the accused, identified as Gurwinder Singh alias Shekhar, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Faridkot.
Following the seizure, a case was registered against him at City Police Station, Faridkot.
In another operation, the CIA Staff Jaito, under the leadership of ASI Darshan Singh, apprehended two suspects during a checking drive on Duyareana Road in Kotkapura. The accused were identified as Harsh Kumar alias Kaku and Akashdeep, both local residents.
Police recovered 30 grams of heroin and ₹10,000 in suspected drug money from their possession. A separate case has been lodged against the duo at City Police Station, Kotkapura.
DSP (D) Avtar Singh Rajpal said police are verifying the criminal backgrounds of all three accused and will seek their custodial remand for further interrogation.
He added that investigators are focusing on uncovering both the source of the seized narcotics and the distribution chain to identify other individuals connected to the alleged trafficking network.
