New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals following violent clashes that broke out near Regal Cinema in Connaught Place during a protest on Monday. Authorities have also heightened security across the national capital to prevent any further law and order disturbances.

According to sources, the FIR pertains to allegations of violence, stone-pelting and damage to public property, including police vehicles, during the demonstration in the Connaught Place area.

Officials said the situation escalated at the Outer Circle when a section of protesters allegedly resorted to pelting stones at police personnel. Several police vehicles were reportedly vandalised during the confrontation, while security forces moved in to bring the situation under control.

Investigators have launched an extensive probe to identify those responsible for the violence. Police are examining CCTV recordings, mobile phone videos and other electronic evidence collected from the area to trace the individuals involved.

Sources indicated that surveillance footage from nearby commercial establishments and traffic cameras is also being reviewed as part of the investigation. Authorities believe the digital evidence will help establish the sequence of events and identify those who allegedly participated in the attacks.

Following the incident, security has been tightened at key locations across Delhi, particularly in central districts and other sensitive areas, with additional police personnel deployed to maintain public order.

Officials have not yet disclosed the number of suspects under investigation, but maintained that action will be taken against anyone found involved in the violence or destruction of public property.

The police have appealed to citizens to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as the investigation into the Connaught Place clashes continues.
