Bomb Scare at Delhi School Revealed as Exam-Evasion Tactic by Student

New Delhi: A tense situation unfolded at a private school in outer Delhi on Thursday after an email warning of a bomb on campus triggered a full-scale emergency response. However, the threat was later determined to be a hoax — fabricated by a student hoping to skip exams, police confirmed.

Authorities were alerted when the principal of Vishal Bharti Public School, located in Paschim Vihar, received a threatening message via email. The content claimed an explosive device had been planted within the school premises. The school immediately contacted the local police, prompting a rapid response.

Multiple emergency units, including the bomb disposal squad, dog handlers, and fire services, were deployed to the scene. The school was evacuated as a precaution, and a thorough search of the building was carried out.

After several hours of investigation, no suspicious items were discovered, and the area was deemed safe. “Standard protocol was followed in response to the threat,” said a senior police official. “Thankfully, it was a false alarm.”

A cyber investigation was launched to trace the origin of the email. The trail led to a surprising source — a student enrolled at the same school. The minor was taken into custody, and during questioning, admitted to orchestrating the threat in an attempt to avoid an upcoming examination.

“The student confessed that he was anxious about the exams and hoped that a bomb scare would lead to school closure,” the officer added.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law. While the student’s identity has been withheld due to legal protections for minors, authorities said appropriate action will be taken in accordance with juvenile justice guidelines.

School authorities have urged students and parents to take such matters seriously and warned that misuse of technology for such acts will have serious consequences. The incident also raised concerns about the psychological pressure students face during exam periods.
