Palghar: Palghar police have taken a 27-year-old man into custody for allegedly killing a co-worker and concealing the body inside a water tank at their workplace in Maharashtra’s Vasai area.

According to officials, the incident took place on Monday at an industrial estate in Vasai. The accused, identified as Asaram Rakesh, reportedly got into an argument with his colleague, Rakesh Singh. What began as a dispute allegedly escalated into violence, with the accused striking Singh on the head using an iron rod.

Police said the accused then allegedly disposed of the body by throwing it into a water tank located within the company premises. The matter came to light when other employees noticed something amiss and informed the victim’s family as well as local authorities.

After receiving the alert, police reached the spot, recovered the body from the tank, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The accused was traced and arrested within a few hours of the incident.

A case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact sequence of events and motive behind the crime, officials added.
