DUMKA, JHARKHAND — A tragic road accident in Jharkhand’s Dumka district claimed the lives of two men from West Bengal on Monday morning, March 16, 2026. The incident occurred in the heart of the main market area within the jurisdiction of the Shikaripada police station.

According to the police, the two victims were traveling on a motorcycle when they collided head-on with a speeding truck. The impact of the crash was so severe that both riders died on the spot.

Victims Identified

Shikaripada police station in-charge Amit Lakra confirmed the identities of the deceased:

  • Haroon Sheikh, aged 30.

  • Babur Ali Sheikh, aged 45.

Both men were residents of the Birbhum district in neighboring West Bengal. Police officials have completed the preliminary on-site investigation and have sent the bodies to a local hospital for post-mortem examinations.

The families of Haroon and Babur have been notified of the tragedy. Authorities are currently searching for the truck driver, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and the truck involved in the accident is being traced.
