Two Symbiosis Students Killed, Two Injured in Highway Crash

Pune: Two college students lost their lives and two others were injured after their car rammed into a container truck on the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway early Thursday morning.

The accident occurred near Eidgah Maidan close to Dehu Road at around 5.45 am when the four students were returning from an outing at Lonavala hill station. According to Dehu Road police, the car hit the truck from behind, causing a severe impact.

All four were BBA students of Symbiosis College in Pune. The victims have been identified as Divya Raj Singh Rathod (20) and Siddhant Anand Shekhar (20), who died on the spot. The two others, Harsh Mishra (21) and Nihar Tamboli (20), suffered minor injuries and were admitted to a hospital.

Police have taken the truck driver, Manish Kumar Suraj Manipal (39), a resident of Wadala in Mumbai, into custody. An investigation into the exact cause of the crash is underway.
