SUV Rams into Durga Idol Immersion Procession in Madhya Pradesh, Two Killed, Several Injured

Panna (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident occurred in Panna district when a speeding SUV crashed into a Durga idol immersion procession, leaving two men dead and over a dozen others injured. The accident took place in Pawai area around 8:30 pm on Thursday.

According to officials, the SUV driver was arrested soon after the accident. Superintendent of Police Nivedita Naidu confirmed that a probe has been launched into the case.

Katni District Hospital’s civil surgeon Dr. Yashwant Verma said 14 injured people were brought to the hospital, where two of them, identified as Rakesh Patel (36) and Purushottam Patel (38), succumbed during treatment. Several of the injured victims were children, he added.

The injured were rushed to Katni district hospital from Pawai, which is about 70 km from the Panna headquarters, due to better healthcare facilities available there. Police have taken the SUV driver into custody and further investigation is underway.
