Sabarkantha (Gujarat): A tragic road accident on a highway in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district claimed the lives of six individuals and left four others injured on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. According to the Gambhoi police, the incident occurred when a speeding private bus rammed into a passenger van from behind. The van was travelling from Shamlaji toward Himmatnagar when the high-impact collision took place, leading to immediate fatalities among the passengers in the smaller vehicle.
Inspector Alpesh Chaudhary of the Gambhoi police station confirmed that six passengers of the van died on the spot. Emergency responders rushed the four injured survivors to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, with preliminary reports suggesting that the excessive speed of the private bus was a primary factor in the fatal rear-end collision.
Local authorities are currently working to identify the deceased and notify their families. This accident adds to the growing concerns regarding road safety on Gujarat’s major highways, particularly involving heavy private transport vehicles. Traffic on the Shamlaji-Himmatnagar route was temporarily disrupted as rescue operations were carried out and the wreckage was cleared from the highway.
