Amravati: At least seven people were killed and 19 others sustained injuries after a speeding truck rammed into a Bolero pickup van on the Samruddhi Highway in Maharashtra’s Amravati district during the early hours of Friday. The fatal collision took place around 12:45 a.m. at Channel 97 of the high-speed corridor near the Dhamangaon railway station.
According to a senior police official, five individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene immediately following the impact, while 21 passengers were critically hurt. Emergency responders swiftly evacuated the wounded to the Dhamangaon Rural Hospital for primary medical assistance.
Due to the severity of their conditions, the injured were subsequently transferred to the Adani Institute of Higher Education and Research in Wardha, formerly known as the Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education. A representative from the healthcare facility confirmed that two of the transferred victims were declared brought dead upon arrival, raising the total death toll to seven.
One patient in critical condition was later shifted to a specialised hospital in Nagpur for advanced treatment, while the remaining 19 injured continue to receive medical care. Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash to establish the exact cause of the collision.
