New Delhi—Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again adjusted his travel itinerary, postponing a planned visit to India, according to reports. The decision stems from heightened security concerns in the wake of a recent devastating terror blast in Delhi, which claimed the lives of 15 people and left many others wounded. The explosion, which took place near the historic Red Fort earlier this month, represented one of the capital’s worst attacks in over a decade.
Netanyahu, whose last official visit to India occurred in 2018, was scheduled to travel before the end of the current year for high-level discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Israeli media now anticipates that the leader will seek to finalize a new date for the trip sometime in the next calendar year, subject to fresh security assessments. This is not the first time the trip has been derailed; earlier attempts to visit were called off, including those prior to the Israeli elections in April and September 2025, when Netanyahu cited political scheduling conflicts. For the Prime Minister, the visit held political importance domestically, as he frequently highlights his close ties with global figures like PM Modi, President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin to project an image of unique strength and international respect essential for Israel’s safety.
