AYODHYA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat ceremonially hoisted the ‘Dharma Dhwaj’ (religious flag) atop the 191-foot-high shikhar (spire) of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Tuesday, marking the completion of the temple’s construction. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present during the historic flag-hoisting ceremony.

The ceremony coincided auspiciously with the Abhijit Muhurat of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita’s Vivah Panchami. The flag itself is a right-angled triangle, measuring 10 feet in height and 20 feet in length, and is adorned with three sacred Sanatan symbols: Om, the Sun (representing Lord Ram’s Suryavansh lineage), and the Kovidara tree (a hybrid created by Rishi Kashyap).

Earlier in the day, PM Modi, accompanied by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, CM Yogi Adityanath, and Governor Anandiben Patel, performed pooja at the Ram Lalla Garbha Grah (sanctum sanctorum). He also offered prayers at the nearby Mata Annapurna Mandir and visited the Saptmandir within the premises, which houses temples dedicated to several revered sages and figures, including Maharshi Valmiki, Devi Ahilya, and Mata Shabari. The Prime Minister’s day began with a roadshow in Ayodhya, where he was greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic devotees.

BJP leader NV Subhash hailed the event, stating that every Hindu should feel immense pride, declaring that this day “marks the completion of the Ayodhya Ram Temple.”
