Ayodhya: Breaking its silence on the escalating controversy surrounding the Ayodhya temple, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Friday condemned the theft from the donation boxes as an exceptional and highly deplorable act. The organization demanded that all individuals responsible for the breach be brought to justice swiftly to protect the purity and sanctity of the religious site. The statement comes amidst mounting political pressure, with opposition leaders demanding Supreme Court-monitored probes and local legal bodies filing criminal complaints against temple trust officials.
In the first official response from the Sangh, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale expressed profound grief, stating that the unfortunate incident has deeply wounded the sentiments and reverence of the global Hindu community. Highlighting the centuries of struggle and the ultimate sacrifices made by millions of devotees to see the grand temple constructed, Hosabale emphasized that the entire society feels personally hurt by the security and financial lapse.
Acknowledging the state government’s response, the RSS leader noted that a Special Investigation Team has already been constituted at the request of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He urged the authorities to ensure that legal proceedings move forward aggressively based on the team’s findings, insisting that the current atmosphere of confusion and public uncertainty must be resolved immediately through complete operational transparency.
Looking forward, Hosabale called upon the temple trust to implement flawless, innocent, and transparent financial systems that reinforce public confidence. He concluded by appealing to the Hindu community to maintain patience and restraint during this challenging period, warning devotees to remain vigilant against anti-religious or adversarial forces seeking to exploit the unfortunate incident to malign the community or its institutions.
