Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav was detained by police in Patna on Wednesday while leading a massive protest march against recurring examination paper leaks and recent police action on student agitators. The demonstration, organised to march from JP Golambar towards Lok Bhavan, escalated as police deployed water cannons to disperse the gathering before detaining several leaders.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma confirmed the detention of Yadav, who was escorted away in a police vehicle near the Income Tax office. The protest witnessed large-scale participation from party lawmakers, workers, and students demanding government accountability over paper leaks, rising unemployment, and the controversial use of force during student agitations in the state.
While being placed inside the police van, Yadav sharply criticized the state administration, alleging that recurring examination leaks are jeopardising the future of millions of students across the country. Senior party leaders who joined the march reiterated that their agitation for transparent recruitment examinations, student welfare, and systemic administrative accountability will continue unabated.
