New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday expressed his condolences over the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which claimed 12 lives and injured several others, and vowed that those responsible would face strict action.

Addressing attendees at the Delhi Defence Dialogue, Singh began by paying tribute to the victims. “First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives in the tragic incident that occurred in Delhi yesterday,” he said.

The minister stressed the government’s commitment to accountability and assured citizens that the investigation is being handled with utmost seriousness. “The country’s leading investigative agencies are conducting a thorough inquiry. Those responsible will not be spared under any circumstances,” Singh stated. He added that the findings of the probe would be made public soon.

The statement comes as multiple central agencies continue to coordinate with Delhi Police to examine all aspects of the explosion. Investigators are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the Red Fort and surrounding areas, tracing the suspected vehicle’s movements before and after the blast. Officials have revealed that the car was seen entering and exiting the Red Fort parking area, apparently driven by a single individual.

Authorities are also reviewing over 100 CCTV clips, including footage from toll plazas and key junctions, to map the vehicle’s route toward Daryaganj. In addition, data from mobile phones active near the Red Fort at the time of the explosion is under analysis, alongside Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) data to trace potential communications linked to the incident.

A massive security response was triggered immediately following the blast. Teams from the Special Cell, Crime Branch, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were deployed to secure the area. Visitors were evacuated, and sniffer dogs along with bomb disposal units conducted extensive checks around the historic complex.

Traffic on Netaji Subhash Marg and adjacent roads was diverted for several hours as a precaution, while security has been heightened across Delhi, including metro stations, market areas, and other heritage sites.

As investigations continue, authorities remain focused on uncovering all leads, analyzing communications, and ensuring those responsible are brought to justice, in line with the Defence Minister’s assurances.
