Dahod: More than 200 villagers in Gujarat’s Dahod district fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after consuming a wedding feast, officials said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday night in Abhlod village, where around 400 guests had attended the समारोह → wedding and were served dinner, including mango juice. Within hours of the meal, many began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain.
Dahod Collector Yogesh Nirgude said approximately 230 people reported falling ill shortly after the dinner, with symptoms emerging around 11 pm.
The affected individuals were rushed to nearby primary health centres, community health facilities, and private hospitals for treatment. According to officials, 59 people have been admitted to a private hospital, and their condition is currently stable.
Resident Medical Officer Dr Rajiv Damor confirmed that all hospitalised patients are under observation and responding to treatment.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and are expected to investigate the exact cause of the suspected food poisoning.
