Rajouri: Security forces have sustained their anti-terror offensive under Operation Sherawali, which entered its 23rd day on Sunday in the Gambir Mughlan area of the Manjakote sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The prolonged operation reflects the agencies’ continued efforts to eliminate terrorist presence from the region.
The mission is being carried out jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security agencies, with teams combing dense forests and rugged terrain in search of suspected militants. Officials said the operation remains active as forces continue to scan vulnerable pockets and maintain pressure on hostile elements.
Search teams have been conducting coordinated day-and-night operations despite challenging geographical conditions. Advanced surveillance measures and extensive ground patrols are being employed to ensure that no movement by terrorists goes undetected.
Authorities have also strengthened area domination exercises in and around nearby villages to reassure residents and prevent any attempt by militants to exploit the difficult landscape for escape or regrouping.
Officials indicated that security personnel remain on high alert, with multiple units deployed across strategic locations as part of the ongoing mission. The operation is aimed not only at tracking down terrorist suspects but also at reinforcing long-term security in the border district.
The continuation of Operation Sherawali for more than three weeks underscores the security forces’ determination to neutralise potential threats and maintain peace in the Rajouri region, which has witnessed several counter-terror operations in recent years.
While no official details regarding recoveries or encounters have been released so far, the search operation remains underway, with agencies committed to ensuring the safety of local communities and preventing any resurgence of militant activity in the area.
