New Delhi: As the nation observed the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks on Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated that India’s determined stand against terrorism is being acknowledged across the world. He said the Modi government’s uncompromising approach has not only strengthened national security but also drawn broad international support.

In a message shared on X, Shah paid homage to the security forces who confronted the gunmen during the 2008 assault, as well as the civilians who were killed in the attacks. He described terrorism as a menace that threatens all of humanity, not just the country where an attack occurs.

Remembering the events of that day, Shah noted that the assault on Mumbai was a stark reminder of the brutality of extremist violence. Ten operatives of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba reached the city by sea before unleashing coordinated strikes that lasted nearly 60 hours and left 166 people dead, including 18 members of the police and armed forces.

Shah stressed that India’s present security framework is guided by a principle of absolute intolerance toward terrorism. According to him, this clarity in policy has led to deeper global cooperation, with many nations acknowledging India’s leadership in confronting terror networks.

He added that the heroism shown by security personnel during the siege continues to inspire the country’s efforts to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
