Off-Duty Air India Express Pilot Arrested for Alleged Assault at IGI Airport

New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested an off-duty Air India Express pilot in connection with an alleged assault on a passenger at Indira Gandhi International Airport, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The incident reportedly took place near the security checkpoint of Terminal 1 on December 19.

The accused, identified as Captain Virendra Sejwal, had earlier joined the investigation and was questioned by the investigating officer. Police said that after a case was registered, CCTV footage from the airport premises was examined and statements of witnesses were recorded to establish the sequence of events.

Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, Sejwal was formally taken into custody. An official statement said the arrest was made after assessing the available material and questioning the accused in detail.

The pilot has been booked under sections 115 for voluntarily causing hurt, 126 for wrongful restraint, and 351 for criminal intimidation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
