Coimbatore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 21st instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi on Wednesday, transferring more than ₹18,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of nine crore farmers. The event was held in Coimbatore, where the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Natural Farming Exhibition and attended the South India National Farming Summit.

Modi interacted with farmers and visited stalls showcasing agricultural products, plant growth models, and natural farming innovations. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi accompanied him during the visit. The three-day summit, organised by the Tamil Nadu Natural Farming Stakeholders Forum, aims to promote chemical-free, eco-friendly farming practices and accelerate India’s shift toward sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

The summit focuses on enhancing market linkages for farmer-producer organisations and rural entrepreneurs. It also highlights innovations in organic inputs, agro-processing, indigenous technologies, and eco-friendly packaging. Over 50,000 participants from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are expected to attend.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited Andhra Pradesh to attend the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Satya Sai Baba. Addressing the gathering, Modi said devotion without service, knowledge without compassion, and action without contributing to society lacked meaning.
